About Camden County

Camden County was one of Georgia’s original counties, founded on February 5, 1777.  It is home to over 50,000 Georgians and is the 41st most populace counties in the state.  Woodbine is the county seat, however St. Marys is the largest city in the county.  As of March 2018, the FAA approved the “draft status” of an Environmental Impact Statement for Spaceport Camden.  This idea was first considered in the 1960s.  Camden County also has a large Military population, being the site for Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.  The base is homeport for ballistic and guided missile nuclear submarines.
